Hello everyone!!! It is Saturday, which is the LAST day of 2011 Pacific Coast Sectional competition!!

Summer Reyna finished yesterday after putting up a great skate in the long, and I can't wait to hear her thoughts on her first sectionals!!

I just got home from skating my Senior Men Free Skate , and I gotta say - I SKATED!!! I didn’t have a great short program which put me into 5th place... But, I said that I wasn’t going to go down without a fight, and I sure put up the fight tonight. I skated a clean program after a interesting entrance to the ice...the guy before me withdrew mid program so, then, instead of waiting for the scores and me getting to take that time to take to the ice and re-warm up...I didn’t get to do that. He skated off and they said "representing the Glacier Falls Figure Skating Club in Anaheim, here is Sean Rabbitt"! Soooo, I went out cold turkey.

I was really nervous because of this weird turn of events...so nervous that I felt like I might die...but it was a good test of my mind; and so I just did what I had been doing in practice. I skated a clean program with just one step out. Completing 2 triple-triple combos and a total of 7 triples. I got a standing ovation from the crowd, who was obnoxiously loud the entire time I skated...and I LOVED IT!!! It was amazing. When I got the standing ovation I saw my friends in the audience and they threw a giant carrot at me!!! Truly amazing.

So I ended up 4th overall in my Senior Sectional Debut...and I’m very happy about it.

Sean's 11th place finish!

Sean Rabbitt recently competed at his FIRST AT&T US Championships in Spokane, Washington. He competed as a Junior Man in a tuff field of 12 men. Sean had a great skate in the short program, with only one mistake, placing him in 10th after the short. He also skated a great free skate program (long program) placing him 10th in the long too. With people below him and people above him moving places, Sean's consistent place int he competition, and combined score put him at 11th overall...

BUT because he was 10th and 10th we are saying the he was 10th best in the nation this year! CONGRATS on your finish to a great season!

Sean Skates His Way To Nationals!!!

Sean had the spectators standing and cheering as he captured the Silver Medal in the Junior Men's category at the 2010 Pacific Coast Sectional Championships in Jackson Hole, November 17-22, earning him a spot at the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Washington, January 14-24., commonly known as "Nationals".

Skating two strong programs, Sean finish third in the Short and second in the Free Skate or Long Programs, putting him second overall. The field of the top 11 Junior Men at Sectionals were competing for four slots at the U.S. Nationals, which were filled by:

Austin Kanallakan, Los Angeles FSC - 1st Place
Sean Rabbitt, Glacier Falls FSC - 2nd Place
Christopher Caluza, All Year FSC - 3rd Place
Grisha Fournier, All Year FSC - 4th Place

Once again, Sean displayed the style and skill polished under the careful direction of world-class coach Mingzhu Li. Ms.Li achieved prominence in China in the 1990's, prior to moving to the United States, by coaching Chen Lu, China's first female gold medalist at the 1995 World Championships and two Olympic bronze medals.

Another Silver Medal at the U.S. Figure Skating 2010 South West Pacific Regional Championship

Once again, Sean displayed his skating skill and grace on the ice; as he placed 2nd place overall capturing the Silver Medal in the Junior Men’s category at the 2010 South West Pacific Regional Championships, held by the Coyote Skating Club of Scottsdale, Arizona, October 23 – 27, 2009. This is Sean’s second Silver Medal for the SWP Regional Championships, following on his Silver Medal Championship at the same event in 2009.

In a highly competitive field composed of the top 9 Junior Men figure skaters from the South West Pacific region, Sean placed third in the Short Program and second in the Free Skate or Long Program for a total score of 143.11.

This Silver Medal advances Sean to the Junior Men competition at the Pacific Coast Sectional Championships in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, November 17-22; and placing in the top 4 there guarantees him a place at the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships – the “Nationals” - in Spokane, Washington, January 14-24.

This performance follows up on Sean’s aggressive Bronze Medal (3rd) finish out of a strong event of 14 men at the 2009 Golden West Championships in Culver City, California, September 3-9, where he missed the Junior Men’s Silver Medal (2nd) by just a tenth of a point. The 2009-2010 competitive season is shaping up beautifully for Sean – showcasing his personal skill, honed by years of hard work and determination.

Sean Delivers A Great Performance At The 2009 Golden West Championships

Sean skated a terrific program at the 2009 Golden West Championships in Culver City, California, September 3 to 9. He scored a solid second place finish in the Junior Men's short program with a total score of 52.76, missing Misha Ge's first place finish by only .55.

His new long or free skate program featured a series of triple jumps and outstanding footwork, garnering 3rd place and missing another 2nd by only .10.

Sean's elegance and style on the ice, combined with almost flawless skating technique produced a great performance that culminated many months of hard work and training. Isn't it great when a good plan really comes together?

Liberty Summer Competition Results

Sean competed this weekend at a competition called Liberty in Aston, PA. Its the first time that he competed this season and had a pretty good showing.

At this competition there was a qualifying round which consisted of a short program and a long program (free skate) and the 2 placements in those would determine his final placement to qualify for the final round.

In the short program Sean placed 8th place.
In the long program Sean skated well and placed 6th place.
His combined score total placed him 7th overall, qualifying for the final round which was the top 10 (1st thru 10th place) to compete one more Long program.

In the Final round Sean placed 5th overall! Completing his goal to skate in the final round and make a placement in the top 6. Sean had a good showing and is very happy with the 5th place finish.

His next competition is the Silicon Valley Open in August.

2009 Liberty Summer Competition

Its that time of year where competition starts. Sean's first competition will be the 2009 Liberty Summer Competition in Aston, PA. Sean will be competing in a group of 18 for short and long program for a spot in the final round of the top 12 where they will re-skate their long program for their final mark. Sean has 2 new programs that he will be debuting. His short program is a tango which was choreographed by Himself and Karen Kwan Oppegard. His long program was choreographed by Alex Chang and has a theme of Arabian/Turkish.

Sean Invited To Appear at the Skate for Life Muscular Dystrophy Benefit

The Unites States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) has announced that Sean will be skating in the 2nd Annual Skate For Life Benefit for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, June 27, 2009. The benefit will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the Hoover Arena in Strongsville, Ohio. Tickets will go on sale May 8.

In addition to Sean's performance, fans and donors in attendance will enjoy the figure skating artistry of Parker Pennington, Alissa Czisny, Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov, Jennifer Robinson and many more national and regional skaters donating their time and talents.

The Skate for Life Benefit was organized by Parker Pennington in 2008 to honor his father, a victim of MD. Sean agreed to appear and skate in the first Skate for Life Benefit to honor his mother, Helene, who also suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. Sean is also dedicating his second appearance to her this year.

All proceeds from the benefit will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Sean To Appear In The Opening Ceremonies, 2009 World Figure Skating Championships

Sean has been selected to appear with a group of elite skaters in the opening ceremonies of the 2009 ISU WORLD FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS to be held in Los Angeles, March 22-29. It is, indeed, an honor and privilege to be chosen to be a part of these ceremonies for the International Skating Union's most prestigious competition. It is, also, a complement and testimonial to Sean's dedication, talent and skating ability.

This event, commonly referred to as the "Worlds", is an annual competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. It is considered to be the most prestigious of the ISU Championships, and will feature the most elite figure skaters from around the globe contending for the title of World Champion. The ISU conducts three other annual figure skating competitions designated "ISU Championships". They are the European Figure Skating Championships, the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, and the World Junior Figure Skating Championships).

The only title more coveted by the skaters than a World title is the Olympic title, but a World title is generally considered to be the highest honor in figure skating. World skaters compete in the categories of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing.

2009 Pacific Coast Sectional Championships - Final

Sean looked great in his short program at the Sectionals. His poise and technical precision placed him 4th in the field of Junior Men for the short. An injury suffered in practice the previous week which made the execution of the triples a challenge. Having landed one of two triples and a confident skate, he moved into fourth place going into the Free Skate (long program).

In the Free Skate program difficult elements of the program receive weighted scores from the judges, so triple jumps heavily effect the skater's final score. Sean's muscle pain from the injury again prevented him from delivering a good executions on his triples, attempting four of the six planned and executing only 2, pulling his score down and placing him 7th overall for the Junior Men competition for the Pacific Coast.

Sean was very pleased with his performance in the short program because he didn't think he would be able to place very high in the technical program due to his injury. Not only that, but feels very pleased with his overall performance and improvement this season. He is already planning and working toward a top four finish overall next season.

Congratulations and thanks to the U.S. Figure Skating Association and the Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona for a beautiful and successful Pacific Coast Sectional Championship. See you next year!

2009 Pacific Coast Sectional Championships

Practice officially begins on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, for skaters competing in the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Pacific Coast Sectional Championships in Scottsdale, hosted by the Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona.

Our guy Sean Rabbitt is scheduled to perform his Short Program on Thursday in the Junior Men category sometime between 1:45 and 2:50 p.m. Individual starting times will be posted no less than 12 hours prior to the scheduled category times. Free Skate programs for the Junior Men will be conducted on Saturday, November 15, between 11:25 and 12:45 a.m..

The top 10 Junior Men figure skaters from the Pacific Coast states will be competing at the Alltel Ice Den, guaranteeing this to be an exciting performance to attend. We hope to see you there.

Introducing...The New Silver Medalist for 2009

Sean's performance at the U.S. Figure Skating 2009 Southwest Pacific Regional Championships at Anaheim Ice, Octobe4-11, was outstanding.

He skated a clean short program with remarkable style and energy, landing a triple lutz, triple flip/double toe, and a double axel. The judges agreed, giving him a career high score of 54.02 - good for 2nd place.

Sean then delivered a very strong performance in the long program, looking poised and confident on the ice - landing a triple flip and a triple lutz/double toe. His score of 92.26 points placed him 3rd in the long program, just .24 behind the 2nd place skater.

His combined score of 146.28 placed him 2nd overall for the Championship, crowning Sean the new Junior Mens Regional Silver Medalist for the Southwest Pacific Region!

Great Job, Sean. See you in Scottsdale for the Sectionals in November.

2009 U.S. Figure Skating Pacific Coast Sectional Championships

Sean will be skating in the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Pacific Coast Sectional Championships at the Alltel Ice Den in Scottsdale, Arizona, Nov 11 to 16, 2008. There will be a total of 12 Junior Men in his category from California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Idaho. These are the top Junior Men from the Pacific Coast Section, so the competition will be tough and exhilarating. If you are in the beautiful Scottsdale area, put this event on your calendar and come help us cheer Sean on.

Golden West Figure Skating Championships

"Last weekend the Golden West Figure Skating Championships took place in Culver City under the All Year FSC. I competed in a group of 14 Jr. Men. My overall score in the Jr. Men's division was 130.94 points, placing me 6th overall in the group of competitors. Not bad for my second time out in this division! I really had a great time!"

2009 Southwest Pacific Regional Competition

The 2009 Southwest Pacific Regional Championships will be held at the beautiful Anaheim Ice Arena, in Disneyland's back yard in Anaheim, California. It is being hosted by Sean's home club, the Galcier Falls Figure Skating Club, and he is excited about competing before his family, friends and neighbors. So, we can expect his best effort and an outstanding performance.

Results of Sean's First Competition of the Season

Sean competed in the Junior Men division at the Silicon Valley Open Figure Skating Competition in San Jose, California, on 8-7-08 and 8-9-08. . This competition was the debut of his new freeskate program, which had a few rough spots but performed to his satisfaction. He finished 9th in the short program, 6th in the long program, and 8th overall in a field of Junior Men.

Figure skating became a dominant focus of my life at the age of three. That was when my Mom and Dad took me to a local skating rink with my brother, Brandon. I still remember the thrill of gliding on the ice for the very first time. It was like stepping into another world.

Pursuing a career in figure skating is an expensive proposition for any skater. At Sean's current level of skating in the Senior Men's category, a skater's average annual expense to train and compete is $25,000 to $50,000. That includes a professional coach, ice time to practice, skating boots and blades, wardrobe/costumes and travel expenses to attend the competition. And, that’s just the skater, Mom and Dad’s travel expenses are additional.

In other countries, these costs are either subsidized or paid by their governments. In the United States, all of the expense is borne by the skater and his family.
